maricrismas asked: Hi Jessica! Can you tell me what are some of the fall fashion trends for 2011? (And possibly for Spring 2012?) I currently have long, straight hair that needs a fresh, new cut! (:
Answer:
Sure thing! I’ll follow this up with some pictures as inspiration as well :) In the meantime, here’s the trends we saw this past fall that we’re still having fun with and what to look foreword to!
Fall/Winter 2011
- Full Bangs - Thank you Zooey and Oliva for rocking this trend! Full bangs help to make your long hair less boring or your short hair more youthful!
- Messy Updo’s - Almost every runway model I’ve seen is sporting a careless frizz filled fly-away number tucked back with little effort (or so it seems).
- Braids - Fishtail braids, french braids, braided buns, side braids and soooo much more! It’s especially perfect for those ‘I don’t feel like washing my hair for the third day in a row’ days.
- Natural Texture - Embracing your own or redefining it, it’s all about convieniance! Brazillian blowouts (I don’t reccomend these, but Aveda has a similar service without the harsh chemicals!) and Perms are big again.
- Assymetrical Cuts - Longer on one side or shaved down in back, it’s one of my favorite things about cutting hair, having a cut that looks different from every angle!
- Unnatural and Unusual Colors - Baby pink, Turqoise and even that 70’s bathtub green color have been really popular, wether just a peek from underneath or your entire head!
Spring 2012
- Fresh from the Beach Hair - I personally am not a fan of the wet look however I do love the air dried salty waves even if they aren’t created from the ocean. (Try Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray!)
- Nautical Inspired Knots - Rope braids tied up and twists galore! Last summer was pretty nautical inspired, and this season is no different.
- Slicked Back - Not a lick of hair on your face, even when left down a lot of runway looks are simply combed and slicked straight back. Even those grown out pixies!
- Coppery Blondes - Vanilla and platinum are still beautiful but embrace that natural warmth with a little strawberry.
- Hair Wraps - The awesome bohemian wraps that almost elude to Rosie the Riveter, but have a knot in the middle rather than at the close where the ends stick out. So cute!
Hope these help reinspire your do! If anyone spots any other trends, be sure to send them my way!
