meagan-fox asked: Your blog is amazing! I've been trying to grow my hair out for some time now, and it's currently a few inches past my shoulders. It's been long my whole life and when I cut it I instantly regretted it! Now I'm trying to grow it out about 6 more inches or so and I would really love some tips on how I could speed up the process and make it as painless as possible. Haha also, I've had dark blonde hair all my life and I kind of want to dye it but I'm scared I would hate it as soon as I do it!

Thank you so much!!
I’m going through the same process right now and it is such a pain in the butt to grow and be patient! Here’s a few tips to help the in between stage a little easier:
- Take vitamins! You can go to any health food store and get a formula for healthy hair and nails. If you end up at a drug store, get biotin. Avoid getting prenatals, that only works if you’re actually pregnant!
- Give your self a good head massage. Everytime you shampoo, take an extra minute or two to apply pressure to every area of your scalp and scrub good! This shakes up any extra sebum that may be blocking your pores and stimulates blood flow, which encourages growth. Brush your hair very thoroughly with a paddle brush before getting in the shower to loosen product and debris, making it easier to clean and massage.
- Get a good layered cut. This way you can boost up the volume at your roots, and style the bottom under or blown out to help get it off your shoulders and to look more intentional.
- Start playing with updo’s more! Braids, twists, buns, accessories, etc. You’re at a good length that you can get it all up and still add some flare.
As for your color, a great way to try is to start with a foil. Go to your stylist and let him/her know that you’re scared but do want to try something new. Try getting a few 4 levels lighter, some 2 levels and this leaves a good amount of your natural. This way you get an overall lighter look, but if you decide you hate it, you can go back to natural easily, or just let it grow out. If you’re thinking darker, or even red, do the same and start with a foil to give it an overall change, but still have that ability to go back.
Hope this helps, good luck on the growth and be sure to send me a picture if you decide to brave the color!
