Ask Scarlette a Question   Submit Your Do's!   I'm Jessica. I'm a 21 year old stylist at an Aveda concept salon in Seattle, Washington. This is where I post my work, the work of others, submissions, tutorials and inspiring do's.

Want me to do your hair? I work at Kismet Salon and Spa in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle. Make appointments with me Tuesday through Saturday at 206.860.0323, and remember that I go by my real name, Jessica.

I still make house calls, so contact Jessica at jessica.hairitic@gmail.com for on site styling. Pricing is low, but based on a consultation.

I credit your photos, guaranteed. If I have not, the credit was not available, or just linked to some guys blog. And why would some guy deserve credit?

flickus-judgicus asked: Hi! I love your blog! So much inspiration! I haven't cut my hair in almost a year, and it's pretty long, below the middle of my back. I love my long hair, but the longer it gets the less volume and wave I have. What should I ask my stylist for? I really loved when miley Cyrus had really long, really layered hair, like a mermaid. Pleaase answerr! :)

Answer:

Thank you so much!!

Exactly what you told me is what you need to tell your stylist. They should ideally ask you tons of questions to figure out what you need, but not all stylists are as thorough. Basically I’d tell them that you are really hoping to get A LOT (stress that!) of layers without loosing length or dimisinshing the amount of hair around your perimeter. There are some techniques that help to create this look and not loose too much hair. Obviously the more layers you cut, the less hair on your head, so just keep in mind that you’ll be getting a cut that will best fit your hair type.

I hope that was helpful!
